Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Pooper.ai ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. The Service

Pooper.ai is a commitment contract platform for software developers. Users pledge to ship a software product by a self-imposed deadline, stake real money on that commitment, and select an "anti-charity" — a cause they personally oppose — that receives their stake if they fail to deliver.

The Platform provides:

• A mechanism to create and track commitment contracts
• Payment processing for stakes
• Human verification of shipped products
• Public display of outcomes (shipped products and failed commitments)

Pooper.ai is a motivational tool, not a legal escrow service. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that commitment contracts are voluntary and self-imposed.

3. Payments & Refunds

Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Pooper.ai does not store your full credit card details.

Platform Fee: A 15% platform fee is deducted from each stake at the time of commitment. This fee is non-refundable regardless of outcome.

Successful Ship (Refund): If you ship your product before the deadline and it passes human verification, your stake (minus the 15% platform fee) is refunded to your original payment method.

Failed Commitment (Donation): If you fail to ship by the deadline, or your submission does not pass verification, your stake (minus the 15% platform fee) is donated to the anti-charity you selected.

No Refunds Once Committed: Once you confirm your commitment and your payment is processed, the stake cannot be refunded, reversed, or cancelled. This is by design — the irrevocability is the motivational mechanism. Do not commit money you cannot afford to lose.

4. Commitment Rules

• One Active Commitment: Each user may have only one active commitment at a time. You must complete (ship or float) your current commitment before starting a new one.
• Hard Deadlines: Deadlines are absolute. The clock runs on UTC time. There are no extensions, grace periods, or exceptions — for any reason.
• No Extensions: Once set, a deadline cannot be modified. Plan accordingly.
• Human Verification: All ship submissions are reviewed by a human verifier. The product must be live, functional, and match the original pledge description. Verification decisions are final.
• Minimum Viable Ship: Your product must be live at a public URL and demonstrably functional. Placeholder pages, "coming soon" landing pages, and non-functional prototypes do not qualify.

5. Anti-Charity Donations

Selection: At the time of commitment, you select an anti-charity from a curated list. This is the organization that receives your stake if you fail to ship.

Donations Are Final: Once a commitment is marked as failed, the donation is processed automatically. Donations cannot be reversed, redirected, or reclaimed.

Donation Receipts: You will receive an email confirmation when a donation is made on your behalf. Pooper.ai facilitates the donation but does not provide tax receipts. Consult your tax advisor regarding deductibility.

6. Public Display

Wall of Shippers: Successfully shipped products are permanently displayed on the public Wall of Shippers page, including your display name, project name, description, stake amount, and build time.

The Floaters: Failed commitments are permanently displayed on the public Floaters page, including your display name, project name, stake amount, and the anti-charity that received your donation.

Pseudonyms: You are not required to use your real name. You may use a pseudonym or handle as your display name. However, once a commitment is created, the display name associated with it cannot be changed.

Permanence: Public entries are intended to be permanent. This is core to the Platform's motivational design.

7. Account Termination

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us. However:

• Active commitments cannot be cancelled. You must complete your current commitment before your account can be deleted.
• Historical records of shipped products and floated commitments remain public even after account deletion.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraud, or abuse the Platform.

8. Limitation of Liability

Pooper.ai is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.
• Our total liability is limited to the amount of the platform fee you paid for the specific commitment in question.
• We are not responsible for Stripe processing errors, third-party service outages, or charity organization actions.
• You acknowledge that staking money is a voluntary choice and accept all financial risk associated with your commitment.
